Federal Government College (FGC) Idoani witnessed a remarkable homecoming as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a former Head Girl of the institution’s 1997 set, returned to launch several major development projects aimed at improving education and community infrastructure.

During the visit, the senator unveiled plans for a modern auditorium, staff quarters, solar-powered streetlights, and a solar-powered water system for both the college and the wider Idoani community. Residents described the event as a proud and emotional moment, celebrating one of their own giving back to the town that shaped her early leadership journey.

The solar streetlights installed across key roads in Idoani have already begun improving visibility and enhancing security during night-time hours. Traders and commuters say the new lighting has increased confidence for evening movement and commercial activity.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that the projects were motivated by gratitude and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the future of younger generations. She emphasized the importance of quality education, leadership development, and infrastructure in rural communities.

Traditional rulers, students, teachers, and community leaders commended the intervention, describing it as a model of impactful leadership and alumni contribution. The projects are expected to strengthen educational facilities, improve access to clean water, and support social and economic activities within Idoani.

Community stakeholders believe the initiative could inspire other indigenes and alumni to participate actively in the development and transformation of Idoani and surrounding communities.
